SABMiller plc (SAB.L), has launched on the 1st of November the first ever commercial-scale cassava-based beer in cooperation with DADTCO. The beer is named ‘Impala', and is brewed in Mozambique by SABMiller's local subsidiary, Cervejas de Moçambique (CDM). In order to achieve this, SABMiller has partnered with DADTCO. DADTCO has brought them the mobile processing unit (AMPU) which is seen as the answer to the problems linked to cassava processing such as the dispersed distribution of cassava smallholders and the very short self-life of the roots when harvested.

The following link will bring you to a life interview from ABN with Gerry van den Houten, SABMiller Africa Supply Chain and Enterprise Development Director who led SABMiller's development effort on cassava beer.
